Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)
Cholesterol doesn't travel through your blood on its own — it rides inside particles, and every one of those particles carries exactly one ApoB protein on its surface. Measuring ApoB counts the particles.

How to prepare
- Fast for 8–12 hours before your draw. Water is fine.
Why it's tracked
A standard lipid panel measures how much cholesterol is being carried. ApoB reflects how many particles are doing the carrying. Two people with identical LDL can have very different particle counts, which is why ApoB is usually read alongside a lipid panel rather than instead of one.
Commonly added
The $10 lab service fee is charged once per order, so add-ons are just the test price — same draw, same visit.
Lipid Panel, Standard
$11
The classic cholesterol panel: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides, plus the ratios calculated from them. It's the test most people mean when they say they've 'had their cholesterol checked'.

Common questions
- Do I need a doctor's visit or referral?
- No. An independent licensed physician authorizes the lab order as part of checkout. There's no appointment and no referral.
- Where do I get my blood drawn?
- At any Quest Diagnostics location. Your lab order arrives by email a few minutes after checkout — walk in, or book a time if you prefer. Not available in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island.
- What does it cost in total?
- The test price plus a flat $10 lab service fee per order, which covers your blood draw and the physician-authorized order. The fee is charged once, no matter how many tests you add.
- Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
- Yes. HSA/FSA cards are accepted.
- Do you take insurance?
- No. Prices are cash prices, shown upfront before you check out.
- When do I get my results?
- Usually in about a week. We email you when they're ready (the email never includes your results), and they show up in your Priority One dashboard.
- Will a doctor go over my results with me?
- No. Your results go straight to your dashboard. Take them to your own healthcare provider to talk through what they mean for you.
- What if I change my mind?
- You can get a full refund any time before your blood is drawn.
