Hemoglobin A1c
When there's sugar in your blood, some of it attaches to the hemoglobin inside your red blood cells and stays there for the life of the cell. A1c measures what percentage has sugar attached.

Why it's tracked
Red blood cells live around three months, so A1c reflects average blood sugar across roughly that window rather than the morning you were drawn — harder to shift with one good week. Anything that changes red-cell lifespan, including anemia, can distort it.
Commonly added
The $10 lab service fee is charged once per order, so add-ons are just the test price — same draw, same visit.
Insulin
$7
The hormone your pancreas releases to move sugar out of the blood and into cells. Measured fasting, it shows how much your body is having to produce just to hold a normal baseline.

Common questions
- Do I need a doctor's visit or referral?
- No. An independent licensed physician authorizes the lab order as part of checkout. There's no appointment and no referral.
- Where do I get my blood drawn?
- At any Quest Diagnostics location. Your lab order arrives by email a few minutes after checkout — walk in, or book a time if you prefer. Not available in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island.
- What does it cost in total?
- The test price plus a flat $10 lab service fee per order, which covers your blood draw and the physician-authorized order. The fee is charged once, no matter how many tests you add.
- Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
- Yes. HSA/FSA cards are accepted.
- Do you take insurance?
- No. Prices are cash prices, shown upfront before you check out.
- When do I get my results?
- Usually in about a week. We email you when they're ready (the email never includes your results), and they show up in your Priority One dashboard.
- Will a doctor go over my results with me?
- No. Your results go straight to your dashboard. Take them to your own healthcare provider to talk through what they mean for you.
- What if I change my mind?
- You can get a full refund any time before your blood is drawn.
