Lab testing for health coaches: how to offer blood work to clients

You can offer lab testing to your coaching clients without a license by letting the client order for themselves. On Priority One, you suggest the tests from a free coach dashboard, your client orders and pays us directly, an independent licensed physician authorizes the order, and the results show up in your dashboard once the client shares them.

Why coaches want labs in their practice

Lab data turns a coaching plan from a guess into something you can measure. A baseline of numbers like ApoB, A1c, fasting insulin, ferritin, vitamin D or a hormone panel gives you and your client a starting point, and a retest a few months later shows whether the plan is working.

The problem is access. Most practitioner lab platforms require a clinical license to open an account, and a client's own doctor may not order the tests you'd want to see.

How it works on Priority One

You join the free coach platform and connect with your clients. From your dashboard you pick the labs you'd like a client to get and send the suggestion. The client checks out on Priority One in their own name — tests start at $5 and panels at $79, plus a flat $10 lab service fee per order — and gets drawn at any Quest location.

Results usually land in about a week. When the client turns on sharing, they appear in your dashboard, charted over time, alongside your scheduling, messaging, intake forms and session notes.

Staying on the right side of the rules

You never order the test, take payment for it or interpret it as medical advice — the client orders, pays Priority One directly, and brings medical questions to a licensed healthcare provider. Priority One doesn't pay coaches per order, and there are no commissions or referral fees. Coaching requirements also vary by state and credential, so check what applies to your own practice.

How ordering your own labs works

Pick the tests or panels you want from the lab store — individual tests start at $5 and panels at $79, with the price shown up front. An independent licensed physician reviews and authorizes the order; that's what makes it a valid lab order without a visit. A flat $10 lab service fee covers that authorization and the draw, once per order, however many tests are in it.

You'll get a requisition to bring to any Quest Diagnostics location — no appointment required at most sites. Results usually land within about a week and appear in your Priority One dashboard, where they're charted against the lab's reference ranges and against your own earlier results so you can see the trend, not just a number.

Priority One is available in 47 states. New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island don't allow this kind of self-ordered testing, so we can't serve those three yet.

Common questions

What does the coach platform cost?
Nothing for Founding Members — it's free for life if you join while the program is open, with no credit card. Your clients pay only for the tests they order, and we never take a percentage of what you earn.
Which lab tests can my clients order?
Individual tests and panels across heart and metabolic health, hormones, thyroid, nutrients, inflammation and more, all run at Quest Diagnostics. Prices are listed in the lab store before checkout.
Can I see my clients' results?
Yes, when they share them with you. Results belong to the client, and they can turn sharing off anytime.
Where is this available?
In 47 states. New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island don't allow self-ordered testing, so clients there can't order through Priority One.
Will Priority One tell me what my results mean?
We show your values, the lab's reference ranges and your trend over time, and we flag what's out of range. We don't diagnose or recommend treatment — bring questions about specific results to a licensed healthcare provider.

Priority One does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Lab testing and dashboard tools help people organize and understand their own health data; results should be reviewed with a qualified healthcare professional. Lab orders are authorized by an independent licensed physician. Not available in NY, NJ or RI.
